EDITORIAL POLICY

Background of our landscape

If the media industry is highly competitive, online media is even more. As with any reading it is important to draw the reader in the first paragraphs. We believe that if you cannot capture a reader with the first few lines, s/he would quickly lose interest and look for the next exciting thing. So our endeavour would be to provide compelling openers and in-depth knowledge of the subject matter. This way we hope to capture our audience and make them loyal.

YBS Media opinions

Most readers log into the Net just to browse until something catches their interest. YBS Media article titles would endeavour to be attention-grabbing. Importantly, YBS Media articles will not shy away from provocative topics unless they are tabloid-fodder and facts have not yet been confirmed. We will always seek to excel and are determined to offer the best opinions each time, every time.

On Competitor Analysis

It is also incumbent on us as a media house to read other publications as well so that if we intend doing a ‘hot’ topic we try to come up with a fresh angle. There is nothing more boring than rehashing stories but with a different picture; our desire is to not only change the picture of the story but also the framing thereof. This will be our proposition to our readers and a way in which we gain a competitive advantage.

Our Proposition to Contributors

It is easy to lose the writer’s angle while editing and for that reason we promise that we will send the draft article to the writer, always, before publishing. What we request from writers is that they send their material to us two (2) days before the required publishing date so that we get enough time to edit, proof-read and discuss changes.  To contribute to the opinion landscape of South Africa, send all contributions to editor@ybsmedia.co.za  or deputyeditor@ybsmedia.co.za .

In Conclusion

Online media is a fairly new concept in South Africa and we, as YBS Media, are extremely fortunate to catch this wave, we hope to use this opportunity for giving others a voice and help them shape the foundations of our young democracy.

Our ambitions remains big and we believe there are many benefits which could be realised by an unpublished writer or an advertisers/brand as we continue to soar. If you would prefer to talk to us directly, contact us on 076 5611 619 during office hours.

YBS Media looks forward to a healthy, long and rewarding working relationship with all parties concerned, now and in future.
